Practical Ways to Study the Bible

Our Purpose

The purpose of this study is to discover some practical principles, tools, and methods for the study of God's word, the Bible, so that we might develop them within our own personal Bible study. Everything we learn will be based upon the presupposition that GOD IS HIS OWN INTERPRETER. In other words, we will be studying God's word to learn how to study God's word.

"But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." 2 Peter 1:20-21 (NASV)

Our Focus

The focus of this study will be on Jesus. As we study the word, we want to look for the image of Jesus: Not just head knowledge, we want to see Jesus.

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 (NASV)
